Climate Impact Assessment Approach for South East Asia Impact Fund

Client Challenge

Sweef Capital, an impact fund in Southeast Asia, collaborated with OnePointFive to develop a custom climate assessment framework, policy, and due diligence questionnaires to integrate into its greater investment strategy. The fund sought to align with international guidance, including the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, the Multilateral Development Banks Joint Development (MDB) principles, and the European Union's Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).

A key challenge was developing sector-specific resources to embed climate risk and impact considerations into ESG due diligence processes; these questionnaires had to stand independently as additional components of the due diligence process, while also integrating within the broader climate framework and policy where applicable.

OPF’s Solution

ESG framework gap analysis

We conducted a detailed gap analysis of the fund’s existing ESG framework and investment process, benchmarking against TCFD, MDB principles, and SFDR requirements. This formed the foundation for a practical climate integration plan.

Custom climate impact assessment framework

We developed a climate assessment framework focused on sector-specific risks and opportunities. It supported consistent climate risk analysis and aligned Sweef’s investment due diligence process with regulatory guidance, enabling the fund to develop action plans stemming from climate-related due diligence findings.

Sector-specific ESG due diligence questionnaires

To support the fund’s due diligence process, we created four tailored ESG questionnaires addressing the unique climate and sustainability considerations in key sectors of focus:

  • Food & Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)

  • Education

  • Healthcare Services

  • Healthcare Products

These questionnaires enabled investment teams to conduct structured ESG and climate risk assessments at the sector level, while also promoting risk mitigation at the portfolio company-level by integrating strategic climate findings into investment agreements.
