Crafting a 2025+ Sustainability Strategy & Roadmap for KraveBeauty
By Abby Dateo (Senior Associate) and Julia Akker (Associate Director)
Client Challenge
As KraveBeauty expands into new global retailers and geographies, the brand recognized a need to evolve its sustainability strategy beyond initial foundational goals. KraveBeauty partnered with OnePointFive (OPF) to update its 2025+ sustainability strategy to align with growth objectives while better reflecting the brand's environmental and social impact work in ingredient sourcing and product formulation processes.
The work needed to translate KraveBeauty’s values into clear priorities, measurable targets, and practical tools for internal teams.
OPF’s Solution
"This revamp sets us on the path to set specific reduction targets and get us on the way to carbon net zero." — KraveBeauty Impact Report
Conducted an audit & peer benchmarking to define the industry landscape
OPF audited KraveBeauty’s existing sustainability achievements and interviewed leadership to align on high-level priorities. We then benchmarked nine beauty industry peers, identifying "norms" and best practices across packaging materials, product formulation, supply chain stakeholder management, and external-facing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This analysis provided the baseline necessary to move KraveBeauty from industry standard to a leader for sustainability impact.
Led a double-materiality-aligned* workshop to prioritize impact
OPF facilitated a structured workshop with cross-functional leaders from Operations, Marketing, Finance and Product to evaluate ~20 material sustainability topics. Using a double-materiality approach, we assessed each topic through two lenses: importance to KraveBeauty’s business value and their impact on external stakeholders and the environment. This collaborative session established four strategic pillars that embed sustainability into the brand's core operations:
Climate Footprint: Measuring and reducing supply chain emissions, with a focus on upstream and downstream transportation impacts.
Product Traceability & Formulation: Enhancing supply chain transparency and prioritizing use of upcycled and plant-derived ingredients
Sustainable Packaging: Designing for refills and recyclability to extend material lifecycles and minimize waste.
Community, Empowerment & Education: Strengthening consumer education and advancing DEI outcomes.
Developed a 2025-2027 implementation plan
To translate these pillars into action, OPF developed a custom dashboard with 2025–2027 Implementation Plan. This tool mapped the four pillars against 2027 goals and longer-term 2030 targets, providing KraveBeauty a structure for execution and progress tracking through 90+ activities and 40+ milestones.
Built a custom Green Score Calculator tool
OPF developed a custom Green Score Calculator to help KraveBeauty evaluate cosmetic ingredients across environmental, social, and human health criteria. The tool gave KraveBeauty a structured way to compare ingredients that may share the same label name but differ in production method, raw material origin, and environmental or health impact. It supported the company’s “Product Traceability & Formulation” pillar by embedding sustainability criteria directly into product sourcing and development decisions.
The calculator also empowered KraveBeauty’s internal team to audit its product portfolio and assess whether ingredients meet their rigorous standards.
To build internal team capacity, OnePointFive delivered training sessions to equip ASME staff with the skills to collect and input Scope 3 data and use the platform. OPF documented the full implementation process, including technical decisions, lessons learned, and revising platform user guides to support repeatable emissions measurement, reporting, and management for future years.

*Double materiality is a reporting principle mandated by EU regulations, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which requires companies to assess both how sustainability issues affect their business value (financial materiality) and how their operations impact society and the environment (impact materiality).
