Tailored Climate Finance Training to Build Climate-Aware Investing Capacity
Client Challenge
Sarona Asset Management, a globally recognized fund-of-funds, partnered with OnePointFive to build climate finance capabilities across its investment & leadership teams. With limited prior exposure to climate finance topics and sector-specific environmental impacts, Sarona required practical training that could be delivered flexibly across time zones and full-time work schedules. The training needed to balance core concepts with applied tools that support day-to-day investing in emerging markets.
OPF’s Solution
Tailored modular training aligned with climate finance skills to investment strategies
OnePointFive designed an 8-week cohort-based climate finance training program, selected from our library of 140+ digitally-proven modules developed and delivered to 1,000 professionals in 70 countries to date. The curriculum was tailored to fill Sarona's competency gaps and aligned to strategic mandates by combining core climate finance principles with insights on climate policy, decarbonization strategies, and sector-specific trends.
Sector-specific insights to support practical application
The training included live, 2-hour sector deep dives on energy, transport, agriculture, nature-based solutions, engineered solutions, and the built environment, with regional case studies as well. These sessions, from our ESG training content library, equipped Sarona to identify climate investment opportunities, assess sector-specific climate risks, and evaluate mitigation and adaptation strategies — capabilities that directly enhance due diligence and portfolio management processes.
Custom digital learning platform developed by OnePointFive for Sarona, including sector-specific content and personalized onboarding materials.
Combining modular & live applied learning to achieve upskilling outcomes
We onboarded Sarona onto a dedicated Learning Management System (LMS) with a personalized onboarding video and selection of digital (3 to 10 minute) master-class-style recorded modules to fill climate finance competency gaps. The sector-specific deep dives, which were intertwined between recorded modules, were delivered through virtual sessions to a globally distributed team across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, balancing interactive learning with the team's scheduling needs across multiple time zones.
Recognition of climate finance competencies through LinkedIn professional certificate
At the end of the 8-week program, after the completion of digital modules, sector deep dives, knowledge quizzes, and a final competency assessment, each of Sarona's team members received a Climate Finance Professionals Training Certificate that outlined the skills attained, and shareable on LinkedIn with a unique certificate ID.
